Prof.(Dr.) S. SURYA PRAKASH

Prof (Dr). S. Surya Prakash has been serving as Vice Chancellor of National Law Institute University, Bhopal from 01-June-2023. Prior to this, he served as Vice Chancellor of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Visakhapatnam and as Founder Vice Chancellor of Maharastra National Law University, Aurangabad (Maharastra) and Professor of Law at NLIU, Bhopal. (M.P).

He started his career as a Lecturer at M.R.V.R.G.R. Law College in Vizianagaram and was the first lecturer of the law college. He has more than 30 years’ experience in academics and worked as Lecturer, Principal, DNR College of Law, Bhimavaram, AP, Faculty Member of NUJS, Kolkata and Principal, Law College, Nanded, Maharashtra before joining in NLIU, Bhopal. He obtained his B.L. from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, A.P. and Master of Law from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, A.P. with first class in the area of Labour and industrial Law. He was also awarded the University Prize’ V.N.Deekshitulu Award” for securing highest marks in the branch of Labour laws. Later he was awarded Ph.D. in law from Berhampur University, Odisha.

Dr. RANJAN KUMAR

Dr. Ranjan Kumar is an Assistant Professor in Legal Theory at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal, since June 2014. Dr. Kumar completed his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree in 2007 and afterwards practiced in Delhi Courts including the Delhi High Court till 2011. Thereafter he joined the two year LL.M. – Master of Laws in International Law programme at the South Asian University and completed it in 2013. With a Ph.D. focusing on the relationship of Justice with Law in Supreme Court judgments, and most recently a M.A. degree in Philosophy, he brings a nuanced perspective to his teaching, covering subjects like Jurisprudence, Public International Law, Conflict of Laws, and Code of Civil Procedure. His engaging pedagogy cultivates critical thinking and practical legal skills among students.

His early and mid-career academic publications primarily engage with legal theory and jurisprudence, encompassing, inter alia, critical analyses of the Supreme Court’s interpretation of personal liberty, examinations of gender bias in death penalty adjudication, studies on labour and wage reforms, and inquiries into competition issues in digital markets. The scholarship produced by him has been cited across a wide range of interdisciplinary and peer-reviewed journals, reflecting both its doctrinal depth and its relevance beyond traditional legal discourse.

Mr. DEVANSH MALHOTRA

Mr. Devansh Malhotra is an advocate and research scholar with a strong academic foundation in criminal law and human rights. He is UGC-NET (Law) qualified and holds an LL.M. in Human Rights and Criminal Law from NLIU Bhopal (2024-25), along with an M.A. in Criminal Law and Forensic Science from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2025). He completed his B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from NLIU Bhopal in 2018-23 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. (Law) at NLIU Bhopal.

Mr. ROHIT ROHILLA

Mr. Rohit Rohilla is a seasoned educator with extensive experience in mentoring aspirants preparing for Judicial Services Examinations and the Law Optional for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. He is currently serving as a Faculty and Mentor at LiveLaw Academy. His academic teaching experience includes positions as an Assistant Professor at S.S. Khanna Girls’ Degree College, Prayagraj, and at SRM University, Delhi-NCR.

Mr. SHAURYA CHOPRA

Mr. Shaurya Chopra is a fourth year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) student at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. He is particularly drawn to litigation and the practical workings of the legal system, with a keen interest in how legal principles operate in real disputes. At the same time, he maintains a deep fascination with jurisprudence and legal theory; no other field of law captivates his intellectual curiosity in quite the same way.

Mr. PRIYANSHU KASLIWAL

Mr. Priyanshu Kasliwal is a fourth year B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) [Cybersecurity] student at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. As the Co-Convenor of the Centre for Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, his academic interests lie in jurisprudence, financial markets, and the interface between law and technology, with a particular focus on how evolving market structures and technological innovation challenge traditional legal and regulatory frameworks.

Mr. RYAN BANG

Mr. Ryan Bang is a fourth year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) student at the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. With a strong inclination towards debates, mooting, and analytical engagement, he is deeply interested in understanding the broader context that shapes legal discourse. Naturally, the domain of jurisprudence and legal theory was the next step because it drew him to inquiries that connect legal doctrines with its social and philosophical foundations.
